Research Process
RESEARCH
Who is our target user segment for commercialization

💡Rising demand in young population

More young people are haunted by chronic disease

The rate of occurrence of chronic disease significantly increases in the younger population.

Increasing health awareness, lack of action

Only 20% of those young individuals actually take action to change behavior.

💡A High potential user group

High willingness to pay

93.4% of the young people surveyed have purchased health products, 45% of young people are willing to invest more in health

Companies‘ rising awareness

Over 90% of companies say they are willing to invest more in employee health management

PRODUCT Opportunity gap
HMW enable young individuals to improve their lifestyles, recognize, prevent, and manage chronic diseases early with premium service beyond traditional healthcare system?
RESEARCH
Where is our target user?

We selected employees in YinKun corporate park, our strategic partner, as our first round seed users, for the following 4 main reasons:

RESEARCH
What health service we should provide?
Pre-launch activities: Free health check-up
Learn employees’ health hazard

The biggest health risk for employees at present is overweight, with overall low awareness and health intervention. Being overweight is a major inducement for subsequent metabolic chronic diseases.

Questionnaires
Learn lifestyle risk factors behind abnormalities

After evaluating the data, dietary management is the optimal entry point for health management within the park considering the relevance to health issues, acceptance level, manageability, demand volume, and commercial viability,

Interview
Delve deeper into user need: dietary health service

I conducted in-depth interviews with 10 seed customers and employees and organized their perspectives into an affinity map. Explore their pathways to action for dietary management, concerns about effectiveness, emotional driven factors, cost considerations, and the need for education.

Transfer user need to product requirements
IDEATION
Design decision: A new app or embedded to current product?

The user group of this product differs from the original eaglenos health, and now we are faced with the question of whether to design a new app?

A new APP

✅

A standalone app allows for a fully customized experience, designed specifically for meal planning and health tracking
Awakefit could establish itself as an independent service branding, appealing to new user groups

❎

A separate app doubles the effort in terms of design, development, updates, and long-term platform maintenance

Embedded to current product

✅

Use the existing product's diet logging, AI and analytics features, reduce development costs, and allow users to learn about other Eaglenos’s service, strengthens the Eaglenos Health platform’s position as a comprehensive health management solution, contribute to business goal

💡

To ensure a smooth MVP launch without disrupting the experience of existing users, I designed a location-based and QR code-access system. This approach restricts Awakefit’s visibility to users within specific enterprise parks

Analyzing user feedback after launch

After a month of pre-operation, I used a combination of user interviews, surveys, and in-app feedback to collect responses. We have collected real feedback from 200+ users and launched an optimization iteration

Iteration
Simplifying information filling process

In our first release, we re-use the conversational form of collecting personal health information. There are too many unnecessary questions, barrier to activate a new user.

3min

Taken to fill out all the information

15%

Gave up filling out

40%

User found the process cumbersome

Group 13546.png

Solution 1: Simplify the Questionnaire Structure

I discussed with our medical team, focus only on the most necessary health metrics that directly impact meal planning and recommendations.

Solution 2: Split the Process into Stages and enable process tracking

I change the whole interface to one question at a time while keeping the progress bar, reducing users' cognitive load and preventing drop-offs caused by uncertainty.

Solution 3: Offer Support During the Process

I asked offline service staff to give more assistance to users when they are filling out the information

Improvement

Add new feature: health report center and data comparison

The entrance is in individual service package page, it’s a cumbersome process for user to navigate multiple reports and do comparison.
See the progress is a incentive for user to continue to pay

Group 1177.png
Group 13571.png
Group 13546.png

In this iteration, I added the following two functions:

Solution 1: historical health report page

Add a page to display all the historical health report, and marked if there are any abnormal indicators.

Solution 2: Historical data comparison

Below the values of each indicator in the health report, I added a small feature that shows the change in indicators from the previous report

10%

Growth in subscription in the second month after iteration

Improvement

By these feature, users can see more clearly how their health metrics evolve over time. This not only improves user engagement but also helps reinforce the value of the subscription plan, increasing user satisfaction and retention.

Scan the code one by one created significant friction for users opting for full health package verifications.

Group 13546.png

Solution 1: Batch Verification Feature

I introduced a batch verification option that allows users to scan and redeem all service package QR codes at once. This streamlines the process for users undergoing full checkups, significantly reducing the time and steps needed.

Solution 2: Quick verification

At the service staff’s terminal, I added a quick scan button and put it at the highest priority, very easy to click.

Improvement

The new batch verification option allows users to redeem multiple health checkups at once, reducing the overall time needed for verification significantly compared to individual QR code scanning.
